Welcome to the Extra Tropical Storm Surge Page.

  • Official Site: Extra Tropical Storm Surge (www.nws.noaa.gov)

  • Mirror Site: Extra Tropical Storm Surge (slosh.nws.noaa.gov/etsurge)

  • Gulf of Alaska (developmental): Extra Tropical Storm Surge including Gulf of Alaska (slosh.nws.noaa.gov/etsurge_goa)

  • The Extra Tropical Storm Surge Model attempts to use the GFS winds in conjunction with a modified SLOSH model to predict storm surge based on large extra-tropical storms as opposed to the tropical storms that SLOSH was originally developed for.  The Web site combines the Model's results with tidal predictions, and compares the results to observed water levels to calculate an adjustment.  It then combines the Model results, the tidal predictions, and the adjustment to create a graph of the total predicted water level.
