The purpose of the MOS Verification web sites is to compare the
results of the NGM and GFS MOS products from 4/1/2001 to now.
Currently they are broken up into a version 1 and a version 2.
Version 1 is based on a large set of static .gif images per month per
region. Unfortunately a segment of our users wanted individual
stations as opposed to region data, which made the static images impractical.
Version 2 was developed so that users could choose individual stations,
and a variable time range. This requires CGI, and a database.
There is currently no official site for version 2, as we haven't
managed to put it on the offical NWS weather.gov web site. Instead, we
have put it on a local experimental machine. Since it is an experimental
machine it occasionally may be unavailable.
